How do you prepare for the rope-climbing technique?

is it push-ups, pull-ups? What can you do to not get embarassed when asked to climb a rope and do the O-Course.

what else is there? there is one more where you have to traverse a rope by hanging on it, dunno what its called.

i know i can jump a 6 foot wall.
thanks Shawn. I was looking at Marines OCC. I am in decent shape but I think I need 6-8 weeks of intense daily preparation so I don't stick out at OCC.

The rope climbing is easy because they teach you a technique in which you can hang there for the whole day if you wanted to..

You place the rope through both of your boots forming as "S" shape..then you just put your weight on it and you will be locked in place..You simply pull up and lock, they you pull up and then lock..you do this until you get to the top..

All obstacle courses are about your upper body strength..You need to be able to jump a 9 ft wall..You use the chicken wing method for that..You run and jump and then grab with your hands..then you pull up and lock one arm on the top of the wall..then you pull one leg up and then the other..

The other fun obstacle is the double pull up bars..this is a normal pull up bar with another one about 2 ft above it..You have to climb over them..same method as the wall..

The you have the telephone poles that you have to get up and over..You also have the stairway to heaven..and the A frame..

These courses are more fun than anything else..
